Ingrown Hair

English | Svenska

Ingrown hairs are a common problem with hair removal, however there are some who suffer with this problem more than others. Here are our tips on keeping those pesky ingrown hairs away.

CAUSE
Every time you remove hair from your body, no matter what method (waxing, electrolysis, depilatory creams, shaving, etc.) chances are you will get ingrown hairs.

The problem starts when hair is removed below the skin surface. When these hairs begin to re-grow, they can curl up inside the hair follicle. The hair doubles over itself, making it impossible for it to exit the surface.

EXTERNAL ELEMENTS

There are certain external factors that add to problems with ingrown hairs, such as:

Skin suffering from lack of moisture Embedded oil in the hair follicles Build up of dead skin cells in the pores and on the surface of the skin can cause ingrown hairs Coarse curly hair growing in a curved hair follicle Improper shaving technique with a blunt blade Hair removal methods such as shaving, waxing, tweezing, electrolysis, that are done incorrectly often irritate the hair follicle.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS

Exfoliating and Moisterising should be your new religion, exfoliating the waxed or shaved area will help keep your skin free from dead skin cell build up and allow hairs to come through. Exfoliating also helps promote circulation and can help encourage the hairs to grow corectly.

Moisterising helps to keep your skin soft so that hairs can come through your skin with ease. We always recommend a light oil such as Sweet Almond Oil or Avocado Oil.

If you shave or wax wait 24 hours to exfoliate the area then apply one of our products with salicylic acid such as PFB Vanish or Ingrown-X-it to prevent the hair from becoming trapped beneath the skin. Both our ingrown hair treatment products are usable daily and act as an exfoliant.

To get rid of ingrown hairs forever, consider laser hair removal. By the third session 80 to 90 percent of your bumps will be terminated.
